01/Overview

An editorial furniture store where browsing feels like reading a magazine, without ever hiding the price.

Casa Ombra sells hand-made ceramics, oak and linen from small Mediterranean workshops. The site reads like a printed magazine — generous type, slow rhythm, room to breathe.

Editorial never gets in the way of shopping: prices, materials and delivery times are always visible, and every story links straight to the objects in it.

Each maker has a page with their workshop, methods and lead times, so customers understand why a hand-thrown vase takes three weeks.

03/Jury verdict

In the jury’s words.

Casa Ombra is beautiful, but the achievement is honesty: price, material and lead time are part of the layout, not hidden beneath it.

07/Case study

From problem to proof.

The challenge

Editorial commerce sites tend to hide prices behind mood. Casa Ombra’s customers loved the stories but abandoned carts when delivery times surprised them at checkout.

The approach

Studio Ferro kept the magazine rhythm but promoted price, materials and lead time into the editorial layout itself, so beauty and information arrive together.

Research

  • Checkout analytics

    18 months of abandonment data

  • Customer interviews

    24 repeat and first-time buyers

  • A/B tests

    Lead-time placement across 6 variants

Key insights

  1. 01

Lead time shown early reads as craft; shown late it reads as a problem.

  2. 02

Customers want to meet the maker before paying €400 for a lamp.

  3. 03

Editorial pages convert when every object is one tap from its product page.

Outcomes

  • −29%

    Cart abandonment

    6 months after relaunch

  • +22%

    Average order value

    year-on-year

  • 3 min 40 s

    Median time on story pages

    vs. 1 min 10 s before

Outcomes are reported by the submitting team and reviewed by the jury.

Jury

  • All product imagery has descriptive alt text written by the editorial team
  • Checkout fully keyboard accessible
